Manta Wrap Rare Yarns Knit Kit

We want you to be cozy and crafty now the chilly Autumnal weather has arrived so we’re dropping the price of our range of Rare Yarns (Essential 8ply and Endare 4ply) from $13 down to $10 a ball. Rare Yarns are a beautifully soft mix of merino and alpaca in a range of colors inspired directly by nature.

Rare Yarns comes from the simple idea that people are passionate about yarns that are beautiful, out of the ordinary and lovely to touch.

Our talented friend Anne has been hard at work creating a fresh batch of her deliciously cozy children’s scarves. There are some wonderful patterns to choose from – for boys and girls – and as these are handmade stocks are limited, so if you see one you must have – don’t hesitate!

Pashom is a Fair Trade focussed business based in Sydney, Australia and is owned and operated by Fiona Chadwick and Scott Goddard. It was established in 2002 whilst Fiona was living and working as a volunteer teacher in Pokhara, Nepal. Apart from forming a close affinity with the country and its people, she was captivated by the beauty and quality of the products made by local cottage industries – especially the Fair Trade and ethical/sustainable businesses run by some very industrious and inspiring Nepalese women.

Aren’t these felt backpacks adorable?! They have pockets along the front that hold finger puppet toys, so your little one always has something to keep amused with!

These felt bags are as sturdy as they are cute, so they will hold up to all the play they inspire!

Pashom’s gorgeous range are made exclusively by a women’s co-operative in Kathmandu that employs over 80 women full-time and provides them with vocational skills enabling them to support their families. They are incredibly skilled in the art of felting, which is an intricate process of lathering wool and hot soapy water together and through moisture, heat and friction a unique and beautiful product is created. The wool is imported from New Zealand and is hand-dyed in Nepal using ecologically approved dyes. As there is little local demand for felt, this co-operative and its employees rely solely upon export for their livelihoods, so we are delighted to be able to contribute to their sustainability.

Little purses and pouches make great gifts for toddlers – working the zips is good for fine motor skills and isn’t it fun to find treasure in little zipped pouches?

We are proud to share with you some our newest treasures from A Charlie Horse. Based in outer Melbourne, long-time knitter Nicola has created a range of magical handcrafted toys created almost entirely from natural materials. From her experience as a kindergarten teacher she has an insight into making durable toys that will spark imaginations for many years.

Pop in and visit her knitted and felted toadstools and fairies before they’re all whisked off to loving new homes!

Anne’s detail is exquisite, aren’t these flowers beautiful? Which scarf do you like best? My guess is these won’t last long – there is only one of each design so don’t miss out.
