Storytelling traditions all over the world tell of little folk – gnomes, dwarves leprechauns and many others. Gnome figures are fun for children to make and play with, and they appeal to their vivid imaginations.

Thomas and Petra Berger show how to make gnomes out of walnuts, twigs, wool and paper, as well as from a variety of other media. There are plenty of different types of gnome to keep children amused for hours. Any of the characters in the book would be at home on a seasonal nature table. The Gnome Craft Book includes instructions for making Astrid Lindgren’s classic gnome the Tomten.

How could anyone resist adopting an Eggling? These precious, tiny eggs are not real chicken eggs, but handmade ceramic shells containing little gardens waiting to burst into bloom with your care. Crack its top with a spoon and find the mix of fortified peat and seeds inside – just water and place it in a bright spot. Plants grow for up to five months in their eggling, after which they can be planted directly into soil.

Egglings are handmade in Japan and each comes with a terracotta tray and an extra seed pack. We have six varities for you to choose from: mint, petunia, lavender, and wild strawberry. Beautifully packaged, an eggling is a unique and delightful gift for anyone who loves the cute and curious.

Today i thought I’d share some new items, along side some classics we’ve just re-stock. First up is a personal favorite: the clover pom pom makers. There’s no shame in using a cardboard donut, but once you’ve made a big, lush pompom so fast, and with so little fuss using the clover maker – you’ll never go back to cardboard! And there’s even a heart shaped pom pom maker – lots of possibilities for heart shaped pom pom garlands, gift wrapping embellishment an all sorts.

As a big crochet fan Clover are one of my favorite brands! I love their stitch markers and their comfort grip crochet hooks – sure they cost a little bit more than your average aluminium hook but they are worth ever penny – the quality of Clover’s products is amazing. Not only are they comfortable as the name suggests but the perfectly smooth machined hooks are a real pleasure to work with. I recommend you try one if you haven’t.

Did you know we stocked Mod Podge? Mod Podge has been a craft room staple in the USA since the 60s and its popularity in Australia is growing due to its ingenious uses – even a VW beetle has been mod podged! It is a PVA gel medium, specially formulated for use in decoupaging, and it lends itself to all sorts of fun and creative applications. Pick some up and see what you can do!

Speaking of ingenious, check out this ink pad for stamping on fabric! It works with any rubber stamps you might already have and is a washable permanent pigment ink. As well as fabric, you could use it on wood and paper. Just think of the personalized gifts you could create with this!

Hey sewing southpaws: good news, we now stock left handed scissors! Nice and sharp, with a comfortable grip, you’ll be cutting in comfort once you’ve got these in hand.
